A New Family Member

Smoki Sumac, ʔamaʔkis Ktunaxa (Kimberley, BC)

I adopted a Rez puppy (Kootenay Lou), and we spent the day with my aunty, sibling, niece and nephew harvesting niqamȼu, one of our traditional foods/medicines, the way our ancestors have for centuries, (of course, adapted a little bit for Covid times). I am proud to be Ktunaxa!
